Craig John Brown

Economics & Business Tuition

About me

I’m Craig Brown and I have a passion for economics and business teaching. I graduated in economics from the University of Exeter, and gained a PGCE teaching qualification (in economics and business) from Staffordshire University.

Mid-way through my career I was awarded Advanced Teacher Status and in addition to my teaching role in school, provided support for a number of schools across Medway.
I have taught economics and business in the UK for over 30 years, with experiences across both state (comprehensive and grammar) and independent sectors (teaching students from around the world). My students have gone on to establish successful careers in the Bank of England, investment and high street banks, wealth management, recruitment and business consultancy, with some becoming entrepreneurs. I measure success in terms of whether my students acquire a passion for the subject, make good academic progress and develop inquisitive minds.

In terms of academic success, my students have gone on to a range of universities including Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, Princeton, Warwick, Exeter, Reading and many more, with one even achieving one of the top 5 grades in the country (AQA economics). I have also successfully supported students with their entries to international essay competitions and EPQ projects. At A Level, I have taught students on the AQA and Edexcel courses in economics as well as the AQA, OCR and Edexcel courses in Business. I have also got experience in working with students on the Pearson Edxecel BTEC Business course (Extended Certificate). I have experience in exam marking for the economics AQA exam board.

I am married to Nicole Brown and we have a son, Stephen. Nicole and myself live in Kent, England. Outside of teaching I enjoy a range of outdoor sports, reading, writing, music, art and travelling.
